The ice has come & gone. Stiff water fishing was just "OK" this year but the fly season shows great promise. Run-off is nearly over, two weeks ahead of usual. The Landlocked salmon have made their appearance, this one weighed nearly three pounds.
My fishing partner Alec, & I kicked off the 2010 trout season with double digit creels today. The Essex County Hatchery has outdone themselves once again! Video of a 2 year old brown C&R. These trout have "big shoulders" and put up a great fight.

Maria & Karen joined me for sunny Adirondack day on the water today. Our first river of choice was still running a bit high so we loaded up and set course for Wilmington. The bite today was good, wildlife viewing a bonus and the river conditions were perfect.
Karen is new to wade fishing but scored a few nice browns and Maria put on a clinic with a catch and release creel in excess of 20 brown trout- way to go!

Pete contacted me a couple of month ago about a trip to the Battenkill. He had fished the river before with not much sucess. He did an awesome job and was a pleasure to have as a client. I was able to click with his fishing style & he could click with mine. Anytime client and guide can work together, the trout stand little chance of keeping in the shadows.
One of the better browns I have seen from this river in a while- again, nice job Pete!
"Gee Pete, this is a pretty nice fish!"

The river is producing some excellent fish. Took my first fish on the first cast of the morning with a Blue Winged Olive dry fly.
Caught 37 trout in four and a half hours, mostly czech nymphing.

Bob & Suzanne joined me as the first clients of 2009. The Schroon had not yet been stocked so we had to do some traveling. We spent a beautiful warm Saturday catching fish.
